The need to be thrifty

There is a compelling need to save, especially when the economy is in a tumultuous state. I realise that the older generation is more adept at saving the scraps whereas the younger generation tend to be more generous with their loose change.

My aunt, her friend and I were clearing the storeroom today and loads were thrown away. They tried to keep whatever that was still usable while my first thought was to throw. Our values were intrinsically different.

..

My mum was a thrifty woman, and she worked hard to put us through university. She saved wherever she could and spent wisely. Looking back, I knew I could have done better for my previous semesters when my mum was still around; and it only struck me how disappointing I was after my mum's death. That realisation struck me like a bolt from the blue. However, this time round, I can say that my mum would be proud of my results. =) heh heh.

..

Perhaps I need to learn to be thrifty like my mum. Thriftiness is a virtue. After all, it is hard to save and all too easy to spend your money away. I need to constantly remind myself the importance of saving, though not to the extent of being stingy.

Scatterbrain

3 Jay songs from his new album.

That's the time I take to reach home from Clementi MRT.

I am pretty glad I reach home safe and sound today because I am super absent minded today.

My soul seemed to be floating in obscure space right from the morning and I am glad I did not burn my house down when I was boiling my ba kut teh..

My first mishap was felt hardest by QQ's Financial Accounting Textbook when I left home at Clementi. Sobs sobs. I forgot to tighten my water bottle cap and the entire contents of my bag got soaked..The book must have been crying. If not it won't be dripping with water. I can squeeze water out.. -_-

2nd stupid thing was messaging the wrong person. I wanted to message Chua that Jingyi will be going for Sunday's Fishing Event and I ended up messaging Jingyi instead.. -_- _-

3rd thing.. ~I left SDE Com Complex, with Junli and Sk still there doing their various stuff, in order to fetch p.PP from her lecture.. I forgot to bring my handphone, bringing only my handphone pouch.. Came back without her to get my phone so that I can ascertain her location.. -_-_-_-

4th thing.. ~~ Damn.. I stepped on a little depression on the ground filled with dirty water while on the way back home after dinner from bukit timah. Everywhere was dry except there...
-_-_-_-_-

GOSH. I am such a scatterbrain.

Scatterbrain

WHOOO!!!

I am a scatterbrain, scatterbrain, scatterbrain..~~ lalala!!!

I am a.. eh.. so what's that again?

* Brain scattered over the place*

... -_-

Well, I almost lost my portable hard disk yesterday because I left it at one of the computer terminals in NUS's engineering computer cluster at 11pm yesterday. I got almost crazy when I realised that it WASN"T around when I reached home.

I was about to pluck all my hair out, one by one. I had the crazy resolution to stay awake till the very next day so that I can rush to school when the computer cluster is open for the day. I succumbed to the zzz monster's temptation at 330am. And I missed my alarm at 5am.

I only got to school at 930am but my beloved hard disk is still there!! Yeah! I wanna kiss all my friends to death for making my reunion possible! If not, I really need to pluck out all my hair, one by one. All my data was inside, especially FYP data and I didnt back up.

~~~^^
Like what Kkk says, I can't put all my eggs in one basket. What if they hatched, and all fly away?
~~我的青春小鸟一去不回来~~
。。。
I guess someone up there is really watching over me.. I almost lost my wallet twice, and adding this to my series of scatterbrain mishaps, I am third time lucky. *phew* Of cause I know I can't be that lucky all the time, so I must be steady next time.
awww...anyway, muz definitely thank my mei for being so concerned. *kiss u to death* lol.
Byes.
We are our main obstacle
I did an interesting experiment while I was on the way home from tuition tonight.
There was a long, straight stretch of road beside Queenstown Primary School which I have to walk. The lights were dim, and there was no one in sight. There wasn't any obstacles in front either.
Hence, I closed my eyes, and I counted my steps as I proceeded to walk towards home.
1.. 2.. 3.. 4.. ... 9.. 10..seems like eternity...
10 steps were my threshold when I started to falter, and almost stumbled.
Although we know that the road ahead is straight and how it looks like, the moment we lost sight of our goal, we stumbled and we became our main obstacle, because we are afraid. We are afraid, because what is known, has become unknown.
We need to cure ourselves of our insecurities.
SUPERMAN
A wonderful good morning to all~
I woke up at 630am today, at my own accord. I am simply surprised at the wonders that sleeping early can do to my body- I am feeling like SUPERMAN.
Actually, I forced myself to sleep early yesterday, mainly to sleep off the pain that I had inflicted voluntarily to my own body- Extraction of 2 wisdom tooth. The "sleep order" that I had issued to my body was read with contempt and laughed off at 10pm yesterday, because it was uncharacteristic for me to sleep so early.
I managed to fall asleep only after 1230am. But that's enough for me to feel like.. superman~~
I had to admit, yesterday was really an ordeal for me. Blood kept oozing out from the wounds, not withstanding the pain that I had to endure. I could not even say "ouch" because it was really hard to open my mouth. It was then that I realise that saying "ouch" is not a right, it is only a privilege. How many people in the world can raise their voices when they are unhappy about something? Not many. The vast majority can only whine in solitude, drowned by the voices of the society. They are only puppets in their making of their own destiny. But lets not digress too much. Back here.
Today, now. THIS very moment. The pain now is only a niggling reminder of a greater physical sensation yesterday. No swelling, which means Tony Leung remained as Tony Leung, Andy Lau is still Andy Lau, and most importantly, I am still me. Of cause this sounds stupid, but I am.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.. Anyway..
"Hey, ain't I very powerful, feeling like superman!"
I told myself, at the same time digging my nose with utmost ferocity and vigour.
-_-
OOps. I was just imagining the part about digging my nose, as I got this little piece of inspiration from 九把刀
He's not just a normal author, but a fantastic storyteller. More about how this stories touched me next time, and not to mention his nose digging accounts.
End it off here, because I am showing too much of my stupidity.
Difficult customers- us. I and my bro.
~I and my brother exhibited exemplary examples of difficult customers that customer service officers love to hate.~
I was at M1 customer service shop at paragon, to renew my student plan who has expired. I knew my brother was supposed to be present as my plan is under his. However, a service personnel whom I have spoken to earlier over the phone told me that a photocopy of my brother's IC would be enough for renewal of my plan. Therefore, armed with the necessary "ammo" for war with the customer service officer, I appeared in front of the M1 personnel, poised and composed.
He told me at the very least, he needed a confirmation from my brother. Hence he called him. I did not know what my brother told him over the line, but I am assured that he wasn't ready to be a pushover.
In a few seconds, the M1 personnel was "pushed". Over. Game over..
I had a favourable response.
Then I told him of a need to change the existing plan too, to which he said he have to call my brother again.
"Ring".
Over in 10seconds.
I had a favourable response.
I felt sorry for the M1 personnel almost immediately.
"Nothing personal ok."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Later in the evening, just 30minutes earlier, I showed exactly why a coin has 2 sides.

I am really not a good guy. I insist. And I showed why to another service personnel,
a Sony Ericsson Call Centre service personnel. I blasted "shots" of fury at him, because I was pretty appalled at the quality of service that I am getting from SE.

My beloved W960I has been rather naughty. Or it might have been truly sick. Its touch screen works when it feels like it. I suppose it takes after a character trait that I possess. I call it a volatile streak.

Anyway, I went down to Wisma SE Repair Centre 2 weeks ago but I was told that there weren't any spare parts left to repair my phone. However, the cs officer told me that she will give me a call 2 weeks when the parts come in.

Since I did not hear from them, I decided to call the Call Centre myself. Great. They actually have parts now. But trouble brews. The parts were only avaiable on a first come first serve basis. And their policy is that they cannot reserve parts for customers.

...Muffled %$&@*$...

Never mind what I did, or said.

Let just say the service personnel did not enjoy it.

And I got my way. But reservation for only 2 days.

Inspiration lost..

I have been watching a drama serial “这里发现爱。” The male lead in the show is a writer and he has lost his inspiration in writing, but in an accident, he realised he will get inspiration when he held the female lead's hand. Whoo la la. Something like that.

The below lines are supposedly written by the male lead.

天气预报说,
今日天气晴。。

因为你只留给我背影,
所以。。。

在我的眼里,
下了场大雨。

..Where is the rain??

Ahh.. Actually I feel I have lost quite a bit of inspiration in writing. ..

灵感,
我转了个湾,
你却遗失在某个转角。

该是时候撤退了。

也许,
单单用眼睛来看着世界是不够的。

I am singing!!

Boo~~

I did not manage to find an internship this holidays. Though, it is hard to conclude that I will not be having one, as I have one last chance. This be kept secret for now since it is uncertain.

That means.. I have officially been a slacker for one week. Been keeping to my exercise regimes, settling miscellaneous stuff and other inconspicuous tasks.

One thing worth mentioning is that I signed for singing lessons. Lo and Behold!! You might be reading a blog from a star singer in the future!!..

-_-

That is probably the face you are giving now, I presume. Especially when I just had my first lesson one week ago.

Anyway, it is just for fun. And my other classmate is Candice! GOSH! It is quaint that I am singing alongside her now. She concluded that I was a stalker for 2 years close to 2 years back. Well, all's well ends well. Hmm.. still too early to tell.

Do re mi fa so la ti do~~~ la la la. Haha.

Hooray!

Hi people!!! My blog hasn't seen the daylights for a month. It has been hiding in deep shadows, under the slumps, living with rats amidst the skewers. But all this is about to change.

I am back!!

LOL.

Been busy with exams the last month, but another reason is fluff friends. I was playing with it during the entire exam and if I have put in more effort for exams rather than using facebook, perhaps I will do better for my exams. Of cause I do not know the results yet, however opportunity cost remains a fact. Scarcity of time is always something everyone have to learn to deal with.

I was in half a mind to blog every time and I have many things that I wanted to update, but time was a cruel foe. It signed an alliance with fluff friends instead. Now I should blog bit by bit all the little updates I wanted to make, post by post, starting with the unimportant ones.

HOoray~~

To myself.

Mesmerised.

Been immersing myself in the wonderful world of words. All beautifully crafted words strung together in an extravagant piece of art to form a novel.

"Of mice and men" was really nice and thanks pui for lending it to me. I am now torn and tormented by Dr Henry's life rocking decision to give away his new born daughter as she got "down's syndrome" in "The MemoryKeeper's daughter."

Decsions which adversely affect your life is hard to make, especially so if you are probably going to be scarred for the rest of it. Time is a irreversible forward moving engine and people so often get caught in its tales and sometimes lies. Before they knew it, a big part of their life has passed so inconspicuously.

I know that 2 of my friends have been reading my blog archives recently and they were caught on in such an intense and consistent pace that they have covered more than half. I suppose my theory last time is proven so much to be true. People read blogs more often in the face of exams.

Due to their mighty efforts, I have been influenced to go through some of them too. Seems like people do change despite the adage that the leopard never changes its spots. My viewpoint deviates and it is interesting to see it in the form of my own writing. I am getting more serious and less blatant with lameness.

Anyway, it has been quite long since I started this blog and it was simply amazing to have blogged 500+ posts. However, I have to admit I was getting weary at one point of time and I simply wanted to delete this blog away at a single hint of impetuousness.

Despite the internal stife, that did not materialise as I love this blog. It has formed part of my attachment in life. I always try to blog with honesty and sincerity without the intent of making it a means to gain popularity with the masses and ultimately, raking in money. Doubters, please be at ease.

Most loved 14.

Blogging has been fun the past year and once again, I have chosen some of my most liked posts to share with all of you.

The positions are irregardless of rank and are shown according to date, the oldest post being the first.

Though, it is a pity that most posts are written in Chinese. Sorry for English readers out there. Please bear with me. ( The [E] at the end of the description stands for English post and the [C] stands for Chinese post.)

1. Beni's rock Concert

This one is in the list simply because it is a stupid video of me. Watch it to be convinced. [E]

2. The sad bear post.

This is about sad bear. In English and Chinese. [C and E]

3. Love is love.

Can we stop playing the hide cat cat game (hide and seek)?? I love the cute little pictures in the post. [C]

4. Thinking of you.

Can day and night be together?? [C]

5. A dedication.

Listen to the dedication by my dear friends. Laugh at my dear expense. However, the dedication is in Chinese. [C]

6. story of little stone.

Little stone is unloved. But he still finds his worth in living. [C]

7. The same steps.

No matter the difference in steps, people still can walk together in the same speed. [C]

8. Rose Coloured Glass.

A post written by Shaowei.. In loving memory of my mum.. [E]

9. Bubbles.

The fate of Bubbles are bad as they are destined to burst. Where shall they fly off to then? [C]

13. The broken bridge.

Can loneliness ever be bridged? Can the black n white keys of the piano find each other? [C]

14. The paper crane.

A real story. An old man folds paper crane at 2 little kids' block downstairs. He does not give them directly but put it at a higher corner. They had to tiptoe to reach it. [C]

....

That's about it. 14. My favourite number.

Time to end it off here.

Please leave comments to tell me which one is your most liked post. Please vote.

Please~

The premonition.

"You have grown thinner." or "Gosh, are u on a diet?" or "Whatever happened to you?"

Lines like that are a common trend recently.

I received similar comments from a couple of people the last 2 months and I came to conclude that there is a certain element of truth in these lines. Today, my brother's soon to be mother in law who has only seen me in a couple of meetings mentioned in a off remark that I have slimmed down.

As a matter of fact, I have shed several pounds and I am now able to slip into tigher pants. 28 inch jeans fit with a bit of space left..

A thought sunk in. Will I shrink and shrink, shrink and shrink till I vanish from this world?

Frequent stomach pains and strange sounds coming from my abdomen remind me of my mum's agony last time. It was a familiar source of worry when I see her suffering often at night but I could only watch helplessly.

It is a source of familarity for me to ponder.. I cannot procrastinate anymore. My stomach is giving me some trouble even now. I will see a doctor come next week.

And I keep on visualising myself at my death bed. I have bad vibes about this. However, it is a fact that life ends with death.

.
.
.
Sometimes, I just need to be convinced that I am not alone.

At the very least, I know I am not.

The soccer hooligan.

A fight of the century could have been fought.

The exciting and totally rude exchange of vulgarities were an ominous sign of bloodshed and violence. It could have spurred 2 hot headed men to grab at each other's throats and spill blood. However, it simply ended with a few glasses of beer for one of the man and his companions.

That man was my brother.

We were playing soccer at Fico which was an indoor turf soccer court near Jurong West today at 10pm with a group of friend's friends. As a matter of fact, that meant strangers. My brother was involved in a slight tussle with a pockmarked guy donning a Man Utd jersey. My brother had shrugged off his attention and the guy fell to the ground in a more than legitimate challenge.

Any referee would have let play go on for a harder challenge.

The pockmarked guy reacted as if someone had hurt that small, oblivious part of his innate pride. He ranted off like a mad dog on the loose and was incredulous that my brother did not apologize for that challenge on him.

However, he did not really give my bro a chance. The guy was up on his feet in an instant and how do u expect a sane human being to react when a mad man started shooting with his verbal AK47 from point blank range.

If a man starts shooting at you, u either run, or shoot back.

My brother chose the latter.

Angry words ensued, but my brother was the calmer one.

The guy got so angry that fists were raised and we had to seperate them.

The guy finally said" I do not want to play with you."

Words formed in my head. "Childish little fool."

My brother shouted back and said fine. He left the court which was enclosed in a net. Our team followed suit. 5 of us just sat outside to rest for a while. Another team who was waiting for their turn outside went to play and one of them who was about to go into the court told my brother not to mind that guy and the pockmarked guy overheard that. The kind hearted guy got a load of verbal attacks from his pockmarked friend because of that.

Intermediate conclusion: The pockmarked guy is really ... bla bla bla..

The most ridiculous thing is.. After 3minutes or so, the pockmarked guy in the court began his rubbish again.

He ranted:" Since you are not interested in playing and want to leave, why are you still here?"

Gosh.. I could hear something break. I think it is my brother's temper. My bro got totally obscene. Anyway, the rest of us were quite exasperated since we had the right to rest a while first.

Hmm, the human mind is complex. Has the mechanism in the pockmarked guy gone awry?

Final conclusion: Let's just leave.

.
.
.
.
ps: It was lucky that I managed to calm my brother by listing the undesirable consequences of assault. He really wanted to beat the daylights out of that guy.

Really, what is the point.

My responsibility, my life

A war is raging on in my house and the aggressor is none other than my aunt. I was like Thailand when Japan attacked Singapore. At least I do not get "occupied" by the unfolding of events. My aunt certainly likes to holler. And my cousin tears.

大声因为她大! LOL!

But I do not like the tension in the house. I was studying materials yesterday and I have to divide my attention to the growing unease and the harsh choice of words that my aunt has to offer for my cousin. It will put a venomous snake to shame, the way she speaks.

Haa. My brother ever broke an iron and a cup plus a couple more things because my aunt spewed some inconsiderate remarks about my mum. *sighs*

I feel like a material beyond its elastic limit and it is a double-edged sword. What don't break you makes you stronger. Though it sounds interesting that a material truly becomes stronger when it stretches more, the material will also lose the ability to stretch too. One day, it will break if it stretches too much.

I feel old now. Bones are aching.. But this is my responsibility, my life. I could not possibly run away from my life.

I just need to be louder!!! BUAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Sniff sniff.

My nose is making weird noises. Sniff sniff. I am lucky there wasn't any glue around.

And.. It is certainly behaving like a rusty 23 year engine.. Grrr..

If only my nose was my mouth. At least I could have gotten it to shut up. *Foul Mouth*

I do not need a feng shui master, a fortune teller, a psychic with supernatural powers or the greatest mathematician to work out a most complex equation following the strangest looking algorithm to know the answer.

I am sick.

Let's stop this before I take a blade and fight it out with my own nose. ( Ha Du Ken from Mr Nose in the background)

NIght peeps. LOL!!!

I hereby announce EXAM STRESS is here!!

Bittergourd is not bitter.

My neighbour once asked me if life was hard. I promptly replied no and she shot me a weird look, as if that wasn't the answer she was expecting.

I could not complain when others were dying and starving.

Well, life certainly has its treats and tricks. I looked on at my chilli plant which was withering and dying. It has certainly seen better days. The leaves were once lush and green and it bloomed. The multitude of reds and greens were a sight to behold and harvest was a joy. But it has culminated and now fallen off the grace of life's gratifying touch.

Rather than lamenting about life's bitterness, I prefer to set things right. What more, I do not find bittergourd bitter, furthermore life. LOL!! Life has its little illness but it is not bitter. Perhaps bittersweet.

Someone once said to me :" you've got a lot of friends who are really concerned about you."

That's enough for life's voyage.

Beary cute.

Haven't been blogging for a long time due to other commitments such as the impending exams and the addictive Facebook!..

Haa.. Anyway this is a picture of the (四大才子) talented bears that are taking too much of my bed space.

There are actually 8 bears resting on my bed now. Gosh, I need to get my sex checked. I am behaving like a little gal. Ahahaa.

Back.

Hello. After a mini absence, I am back blogging. Been rather busy so much so that I do not even have the time to take a photo of myself with my new haircut. Imagine that! The camwhorer not camwhoring! This shows how much time I have left. If I was fighting against time, the latter has already dealt me 3 heavy blows and I will have been knocked out in a boxing ring.

Sorry to whoever asks me to put a photo of me with my new haircut. Blame time. Anyway I look pretty much the same. Well, time is going to change that in a couple of years but who to blame? Time.

..

Anyway, I was having my dinner at the coffeshop nearby after IPPT today. The coffeshop hawker was trying to strike a conversation with me when he brought me my food. I shall not mention that he used the term "shuai ge" to address me because that will indicate I am a unbashful person (bhb for short).

He wanted to talk to me in Chinese initially but stopped short in his tracks and forced himself into using English though it was apparent that it wasn't his favourite channel. Heck. Asked me what sports I played and I knew the conversation wasn't going anywhere. It seems to him that I am more of a -eat potato- man (person who is more Western orientated) rather than your usual Chinese speaking bloke.

Fine. I always like to feign ignorance by replying him in English. In fact, I have been doing that whenever people speaks to me in English instead.

I must been a freaky dork with my English.
